BBBS of Mercer’s school-based programs feature lunch and afterschool partnerships, pairing ‘Littles’ with adult or high school ‘Bigs’. Matches do homework, play games and engage in other bonding activities. Parents, guardians, teachers and guidance counselors have noticed the positive impact this program has on participants.
“The Big Brother Big Sister Program has helped our students to build their self-worth and acquire a feeling of connection to others in the community. I walk around the cafeteria and see the biggest smiles from our students (the Littles) when they are having lunch with their Bigs. Students tell me that they love and look up to their Bigs. They count down the days until they are to have the next lunch with their Big. Your program has been invaluable in helping our students grow in strength, fortitude, and wisdom.”

Students learn about life and job skills, are exposed to different career paths, scholarship advice, personal and cyber safety guidelines, learn interview skills, network - and more.
